Fundraiser launched to save The Lady’s Room, one of the only lesbian bars in Florida

A recent video on TikTok is going viral. In it, Vicki, the owner of The Lady’s Room in Largo, describes her experience getting this bar open in Largo, and the current challenges in keeping it open. This bar opened just over a year ago, the owner is actually readying for a one year anniversary party, and its presence in the community remains significant because there are only around 24 left in the nation according to The Lesbian Bar Project.

Vicki has launched a GoFundMe with an overall goal of $100,000. According to the video interviews, the bar owner has gone out of pocket to create this haven in the city, and has struggled to find more traditional lending options. Here’s the full fundraiser description:

Hi, my name is Vicki I am the owner of the Ladys Room restaurant in Showbar the only lesbian bar in Florida. My bar needs help to keep our doors open. I cannot get funding through any bank or lenders. I have built a bar over the last year all out of pocket I’m just trying to keep it open for the LGBTQ community and the lesbians of Florida.

The Lady’s Room celebrates one year in Largo

So far they’ve raised a little over $11,000 through community support.
