There’s a lot of excitement surrounding the future of USF Football. A new stadium is on the way, and a team alum just won the Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs. There’s even more to celebrate with this organization: two players have signed with NFL teams.

USF’s offensive lineman Donovan Jennings is Green Bay bound. Jennings was impressive during his pro day showcase. The Bulls star ran a 4.95 sec 40-yard dash and showed off a 28″ vertical leap.  Per Aaron Wilson on the Packers News Wire, the Packers are giving Jennings a $10,000 signing bonus and $100,000 guaranteed salary, suggesting many teams were interested.

Jennings set a USF record by appearing in 55 career games and made 45 career starts, tied for seventh-most. He earned second-team all-conference selection in 2021 when he started all 12 games at left tackle and helped the Bulls to a program record 421 rushing yards vs. Temple. He helped block for Jordan Cronkrite’s 1,000-yard rushing season in 2018 and team total of 2,517 yards on the ground.

USF players ready for big professional football careers

Another offensive lineman is headed to the big leagues. Bayron Matos has signed with the Miami Dolphin as an undrafted free agent following the NFL draft. Sun Sentinel Dolphins reporter David Furones notes that the “Dolphins dished out some serious cash to get undrafted OL Bayron Matos.”

Matos is actually a former basketball player at USF. He walked on to the Bulls football team during the spring of 2022 and appeared in USF’s first two games of the 2022 season, playing limited special teams snaps vs. BYU and some special teams and defensive line snaps vs. Howard. He later moved to the offensive line. Matos joined the NFL’s International Player Pathway Program (IPPP) in January of 2024. We still look forward to hopefully seeing the alum don the Dolphins jersey on the field one day.
