The Tampa City Council gave the green light to a bold plan for the iconic shopping mall situated at Westshore and Kennedy. The Ohio-based developer, the Washington Prime Group, is set to overhaul the site, opting to demolish most existing structures, excluding Macy’s and its neighboring parking lot. In their stead, a sprawling 900,000 sq. ft. of retail space is slated for construction.

Additionally, the revamped complex will house business offices, a medical center, a hotel, a HART bus station, and a staggering 1,700 housing units. The project’s progression hinges on the developer’s ability to secure financing, leaving the fate of this ambitious venture squarely in their hands.

Developers aim to transform this into a completely walkable area with the addition of 2,000 residential units. Alongside ample recreational and dining options, the future of this vibrant space is nothing short of exciting. You can still visit Westshore Plaza at 250 Westshore Plaza.
