Tampa Treasures: The Royal Tea Room & Gift Shoppe

Exterior of a tea room in Tampa

It’s team time in Tampa. That is an extraordinarily satisfying bit of alliteration if I do say so myself. Tampa’s Royal Tea Room is a local gem, and arguably one of the best spots for a small gathering. It initially opened in 1996 when Tampa was a much different city. The holiday season had the That’s So Tampa crew reminiscing about our last visit.

In the front is the gift shop filled with goodies for you to pamper yourself with. Treat yourself, as they say. Tucked in the back is the tea room, which boasts a European ambiance. Don’t fret, even if you’re not a tea connoisseur this tea room is approachable.

Traditional afternoon tea is served Tuesday – Saturday. Tea times are 11:30am, 1:30pm and 3:30pm by reservation.

In addition to tea, guests enjoy flavorful teas and a three-tiered caddy with scones, savory bites and delicious desserts. All of The Royal Tea Room’s sensational treats are made on the premises.

The gift shop is clutch for anyone who walks away completely enamored with their tea room experience.

Visitors can purchase tea dollies, sugar tongs, hand decorated sugars, infusers, cake stands, pastry/tart servers, assorted tea balls, and traditional strainers for decanting tea.

Sip it. Enjoy it. Spill it if you must. It’s tea time, Tampa.

You can visit The Royal Tea Room at 2719 South MacDill Avenue.
