The world’s only festival exclusively devoted to trio, duo, and solo improv acts is making its triumphant return to Tampa this August. The 7th Annual Countdown Improv Fest is taking over Ybor City for four straight nights, Wednesday-Saturday, August 9-12, and tickets are on sale now.
Countdown Improv Fest is a celebration of everything about improvisational comedy, featuring a mix of performers regaling audiences with uproarious shows, as well as a slew of workshops to help current and aspiring improv artists develop their craft. All four days of action are hosted at the HCC Ybor Performing Arts Building, 1411 E. 11th Avenue.

For those ready for a laugh, Countdown will showcase a lineup of more than 75 acts from across the country, taking the stage throughout the week. Additionally, the festival will offer workshops for all levels of improvisers who wish to enhance their comedy prowess, many of them led by those standout national acts. Attendees will learn from experienced instructors on a range of skills everywhere from freestyle rapping to playing a “lovable dirtbag,” organizers say.
Countdown brings a family-friendly experience to the festival
There is also a new family-friendly portion of events taking place on the final day of the festival, as Countdown is introducing a matinee performance and workshop for kids and families on Saturday. The experience will be broken up into two parts, starting with a workshop geared for kids aged 8-14 where they will learn the basics of improv. The workshop will be followed by a family-friendly performance open to all ages.
Each day brings a different lineup of performers and workshops, so be sure to check the full schedule and see which day (or days) are can’t miss for you. Tickets are available in nightly passes, full week passes, or individual block passes.
