Sometimes it’s fun to experience the Sunshine State like a tourist. We love Tampa, but occasionally we get the urge to head up to Orlando to enjoy the attractions at Universal (specifically the fantastic Halloween Horror Nights). Construction is underway on the largest Super Nintendo World with an opening timeline sometime in 2025. The Nintendo expansion won’t end with just Mario and Donkey Kong.

While not fully confirmed, park insiders such as Orlando ParkStop are reporting that plans are in place to decommision The Simpsons immersive ride and replace it with a Pokemon-themed attraction. The Simpsons has a special place in my heart, but with the strong reviews/viewership of Pokemon Concierge on Netflix, and the continued success of the Pokemon games on Nintendo Switch, it makes sense that Universal would now want to capitalize on that.

Indoor Pokemon ride could arrive in Orlando before 2030

This news was first reported by Inside the Magic back in July 2023. Orlando Park Stop notes that plans for a Pokémon-themed area in Japan look set to be replicated at the Orlando resort.

While this is all speculation at the moment, these were also the outlets that first reported plans were in place for a Nintendo-themed attraction coming soon to Orlando. According to the outlet, this Pokémon land was estimated to be opening by 2030, but new rumours suggest it could ‘open several years sooner than expected’.

Orlando ParkStop also reports that a Legend of Zelda attraction(s) could take over The Lost Continent. The final two pieces of the area, Poseidon’s Fury and Sinbad, have both closed. Currently, all that remains is the restaurant in the area. An indoor boat-themed ride, and Hyrule-style decor could take over the area in the next several years.
