Kichi Taiyaki Japanese dessert cafe brings fluff cakes and Bingsu to Tampa Bay

Get ready to drool over the desserts at Kichi Taiyaki, a new Japanese Dessert Cafe set to open at 2020 W Brandon Boulevard in Brandon. The dessert cafe officially opens on Saturday, November 4.

The most delectable addition to the menu in my opinion is souflee pancake. These towering, jiggling, sweet confections are a feast for the eyes and an airy treat you’ll devour hastily. Proposed flavors include matcha mousse, Nutella tiramisu, Oreo, and creme brûlée.

Ample Taiyaki features on the menu (as the name would suggest). Taiyaki is a Japanese fish-shaped cake, commonly sold as street food. It imitates the shape of tai (firm flesh white fish), which it is named after. The most common filling is red bean paste which is made from sweetened adzuki beans. Other common fillings include custard, chocolate, cheese, or sweet potato.

This dessert hub will offer taro, brown sugar, custard, pandan coconut, and Nutella. Kichi will also switch it up with savory fillings such as pork floss and cream cheese, pepperoni and marinara, and egg and cheddar cheese.

Their website also notes Bingsu and boba tea varieties. Bingsu is a milk-based Korean shaved ice dessert with sweet toppings that may include chopped fruit, condensed milk, fruit syrup, and red beans. Kichi’s main flavors are matcha, honeydew, and mango, plus a stunning red and yellow mangonada boba tea to wash it all down.
