I can’t hear or read “Jekyll” without getting an immediate call back to the wild animated transformation scene from the quality old-school literary romp “The Pagemaster.” So immediately a chic new speakeasy called Jekyll is inducing revelatory amounts of nostalgia within me. This new concept from Three Oaks Hospitality debuted at the tail end of spooky season and it’s a space designed for Instagram. I didn’t make it in on opening night and the footage from influencers across Tampa Bay had me feeling envious.

Jekyll is situated behind Sesame, the brand new bagel shop located at 1500 W Swann Ave. Just say “Open Sesame” and prepare for an extravagant experience. Reservations are available online. This escape is also available for private events.

The dimly lit lounge has garnered numerous 5-star reviews as a must-try experience before 2023 ends in the city of Tampa. Literary-inspired cocktails include Virtue’s Vice made with Mount Gay, Ron Zucapa, Wray & Nephew, RumHaven, orange, lime, soursop, and Thai coconut. Kafka’s classic novella Metamorphosis inspires the drink.

Some cocktails come in elegant beaker contraptions you might find in Dr. Jekyll’s office. You can follow the speakeasy on its Instagram. Check the tagged videos and photos for glimpses inside the gorgeous new cocktail spot. Light bites are also on the menu if you’re a bit peckish.
