Cuban Sandwich Festival will operate as a drive-in event

The Cuban Sandwich Festival is the most delicious event of the year in Tampa — and this year it takes place on November 22 in Ybor City. The festival would bring in competitors from across Florida and around the world as they each attempt to be crowned the Cuban sandwich champion. This year, things will be a bit different.

This 9th installment of the Cuban Sandwich Festival will function as a drive-in event. Tickets are free, but pre-registration is required in order to attend. A limited number of tickets will be available for each day of the event to ensure social distancing guidelines can be adhered to.

Hand washing and sanitization stations will be placed throughout the area, too, to help ensure proper hygiene.

Participants at the event will still attempt to set the world record for the longest Cuban Sandwich ever. The sandwich will be donated to a homeless shelter after the event.

Tampa is renowned for its Cuban sandwiches. In a recent article by Conde Nast Traveler, Tampa’s own Columbia Restaurant was named as one of the top restaurants to visit in the state for its Cuban sandwich.
