Tampa Training Ground is this summer’s inclusive soccer hub for youth of all ages

If you follow the game, you may have noticed that soccer is having A Moment in Tampa. In the last four months, we’ve had the U.S. National team playing at Ray Jay, Premier League Mornings Fan Fest at Armature Works, and both local pro clubs in action. In the next three months, Tampa will host England vs New Zealand for their World Cup prep and Wrexham vs Leeds United for their preseason U.S. tour.

It’s a great time to be a soccer fan in Tampa, and thanks to a new spot founded by locals, it’s a great time to be a soccer player in Tampa, too. Tampa Training Ground, an indoor/outdoor soccer and futsal facility, officially launched earlier this year, and it has quickly become the city’s hub for inclusive and accessible youth soccer, both for training and playing.

The big word there is accessible. That’s what Tampa Training Ground is all about, and that’s why it’s become such a quick hit. The founders have children playing soccer, and they know what the grind is like. Half the That’s So Tampa staff grew up playing, and we, too, know how hard and expensive it can be just to play and learn about the game you love.

TTG is cutting off the exclusivity of clubs (while still supporting them locally), and making regular soccer training and play actually affordable for the average family. They started Tampa Training Ground to grow the game, not to grow their bank accounts. Located at 6621 Memorial Hwy., it is now welcoming local youth and adult soccer players of any level for pickup, training, and accessible club-neutral soccer and futsal.

Tampa’s summer soccer hotspot

The family-run and service-disabled veteran-owned business was launched by a local couple who are both former D-1 athletes, and whose kids are currently navigating the world of youth soccer. Their vision was to create a place for youth and adults alike to play, with an emphasis on providing affordable, high-quality training and facilities to local youth players, as well as offering teaching to aspiring and rising coaches.

The facility and fields are staffed daily with highly-trained coaches and officials, so everything from tactical training to pick-up games on the pitch are led by qualified experts. In the last few months, it has become a daily sight to catch kids of all ages running up and down the fields, with nearly as much laughter filling the air as whistles.

As summer approaches, TTG is the best spot in the city for your kids (and even adults, with separate fields available!) to burn off their extra energy while also getting better at the game they love. Whether they’re brand new to the game or have been training for years, there’s a place for them to learn and grow.

Tampa Training Ground will offer two training times per day Monday-Thursday and Saturdays throughout June and July, along with open play and pick-up games every Saturday afternoon for TTG members of all ages. Scroll down here to find the full schedule, including May training times.

Unlimited play for TTG members

TTG is membership-based, though they welcome anyone to try out a free session and see what they think. Right now, the team is offering a limited-time “Founding Member” family membership for $100 per month, which covers multiple kids and includes unlimited group training and pick-up play. Better yet, that rate is locked in for one full year from the date of sign-up. Only a limited number of founding memberships are available. For the TTG team, affordability will remain central to the mission, keeping prices reasonable to make the game accessible to everyone – not just families who can afford expensive club and league fees. With the World Cup on the horizon, it’s nice to have an option when that soccer interest is at its peak.

Plus, all members get access to the pick-up and open play sessions, with coaching supervision throughout it all. Want a little 7-on-7 to get sharp? Hop in a scrimmage. Want to kick around with friends after school or on the weekends? There’s a field waiting for you.

The outdoor fields are open now, with the full indoor facility opening mid-2026, including three additional pitches, conditioning, and comfortable viewing areas. Another note for parents: TTG encourages you to drop off players for training, where they will be under expert supervision. It’s also worth mentioning that they are conveniently situated within walking distance of Starbucks, Publix, Home Depot, other shops and restaurants.

We should also follow up on the point that Tampa Training Ground isn’t just for youth soccer. The goal is to provide recreational fitness and fun for all skill levels and all ages. Not only is TTG launching adult soccer leagues, but they also offer coach education and licensure, referee certification courses, and direct opportunities for experience and growth.

The backbone of the operation is Mike Singleton, Tampa Training Ground’s Director of Coach & Player development. Singleton is one of the most highly decorated and experienced soccer pros in the region, a long-time coach and training leader who has not only coached at the D-1, D-II, and D-III levels in the NCAA, but has worked with U.S. Soccer youth national teams, served on committees for the FIFA World Cup and Gold Cup, and has more than half a dozen licenses and degrees to back up his credentials, from the likes of England, Holland, and FIFA.

Singleton’s passion for soccer, sport psychology, and personal development have made him the perfect person for this position. Aspiring coaches and local youth alike are already excelling under his guidance at TTG.
