The James Museum celebrates 5-year anniversary with big bash this Friday

St. Pete is packed full of incredible museums, and one of our favorites is celebrating an incredible five years of storytelling, history, and amazing art. The James Museum of Western & Wildlife Art is celebrating the half decade in action with a 5th-anniversary party this Friday, April 28, and it’s a great excuse to cross the bridge (or take the ferry) for a night in St. Pete.

In celebration of the milestone, The James Museum is dropping admission to just $5 for the day, and opening for extended hours, 10 am – 8 pm. The event is free for museum members, and non-members can purchase the celebration-priced tickets upon arrival.

Beginning at 5 p.m., 6 Volt Rodeo and Swing Time will hit the stage for live music and dancing inside Mesa Hall, a truly Western-style celebration. Guests can also partake in $5 beer and wine specials, as well as tasty $5 BBQ specials from Datz. Plus, artisanal anniversary cupcakes will be complementary to all guests (as long as supplies last, anyway).

The bash will also include a VIP area for James Museum members, and the first 100 members to visit will receive a custom Five-Year James Museum Celebration pin. For more information about James Museum membership visit thejamesmuseum.org/join.

“We could not have made it to five years without the incredible support of our community,” says James Museum Interim Executive Director Debbie Sokolov, “and to show our appreciation, we wanted to have a special day where our community could come and celebrate with us.”

If you haven’t visited The James Museum before (or if you’ve only been for one of their many great events), it’s more than worth the price of admission on regular days, let alone the $5 this Friday. Even for those who have been many times, it’s always worth another visit with its rotating exhibits and galleries.

The James Museum of Western & Wildlife Art provides experiences that inspire human connection and transformation through art depicting the peoples, landscapes, and history of the American West, and wildlife of the world. More than 400 premiere works of art including sculpture, paintings and jewelry are on display in the museum’s 26,000 square feet of gallery space.

The museum engages the community through programs and educational opportunities, for all ages, that bring our history to life and amplify voices that are not often at the forefront of mainstream Western art. When The James Museum opened in April 2018 it became one of the newest additions to St. Petersburg’s thriving arts community, and these five years later, it remains one of the city’s must-visit cultural destinations.
