Grand Hacienda is an OpenTable Diner’s Choice winner, and it has expanded to Tampa, St. Pete Beach, Feathersound, and downtown St. Pete. The restaurant serves up bold, sizzling flavors in styles so aesthetically pleasing it’s almost a shame to eat. This much was evident at its brand new location at 2325 Ulmerton Road. The interior features gorgeous turquoise booths, a long bar, and glasswork reminiscent of Chihuly’s finest pieces set on the wall. Grand Hacienda’s new digs also includes a sizable parking lot, and a dreamy patio in the back.
Here’s what you need to order when you visit:
Molcajete
The molcajete, a dish served in a molten lava rock, is filled with tender grilled chicken, grilled steak, chorizo, shrimp and vegetables, tossed in salsa ranchera. It’s garnished with chambray onion, nopal and queso panela. It’s a feast for the eyes as a choir of bubbling sauce sounds off at the center of the table. It’s the perfect dish to get and share with a group.
Pineapple Fajita
It seems Grand Hacienda is all about the culinary arts. The pineapple fajita (served in a hollowed out pineapple) features chicken, shrimp, bacon, chorizo, grilled onion, grilled pineapple chunks, and topped with melty Oaxaca cheese. A skewer featuring multiple fresh shrimp sticks out of the pineapple shell like a savory flag.
Steak Fajita
It’s an iconic dish, and not necessarily unique to Grand Hacienda, but dang do they do it right. The sizzling steak fajita (queue the applause and awes of the diners around you) features 10 ounces of perfectly cooked steak. It’s tender and juicy, and a perfect meal to go solo on. That won’t stop your friends asking for bite, though.
Brisket Flautas
A low-key phenomenal dish is the brisket flautas. The dish includes 3 oval crispy corn tortillas filled with super savory brisket and topped with verde sauce, queso fresco, sour cream and avocado slices.
Friendly reminder that you can order tableside guacamole service. I love a bit of dinner theater.
In honor of Hispanic Heritage month, the restaurant is also adding Brisket Enchiladas and Tamal Oazaqueno to its menu through October 15.
