A farm in downtown Tampa is growing the best organic vegetables in the city. I was first made aware of Meacham by St. Pete Ferments, one of my favorite market vendors for their kimchi and daikon salad. This delicious gem is located at 1108 E Scott Street, and it’s currently gearing up for a major October harvest.
Meacham Urban Farm will host its first ever Harvest Festival on October 1 from noon-6pm. There will be extended Farm Store hours, local artisanal vendors, a pig roast (vegan option available), educational farm talks, guided farm tours, a full petting zoo, live music and more. $20/admission online, $25 at the gate, and kids 12 and under enter for free. Guests are encouraged to bring their own lawn chair. The event is also BYOB.

Meacham is growing the tastiest veggies in Florida
Guests can enjoy freshly fried donuts from Supernatural Food and Wine and other amazing local artisans will be set up offering wonderful local Fall goods and goodies for purchase as well as Meacham’s Farm Store for veggie shopping. A “Goodies Check” will be available during the event to hold purchased goods, including groceries in their walk-in cooler, so you can enjoy the event without worrying.
Currently, Meacham’s farm store is open 9am-1pm on Saturdays, and 10am-1pm on Sundays for the summer. Hours will change with the growing season. Those interested in volunteering on the farm are in luck as opportunities will open up once again in October.
Beautiful farm dinners are also coming back, too! These dinners are done in partnership with Shane Richeson of Buddha’s Garden. You can see the full schedule, and reserve tickets online.
