One of the city’s top chefs debuts Counter Culture in South Tampa

Chef preparing dishes

Just when I thought Tampa couldn’t squeeze in another new restaurant opening before the end of 2019, a chef-driven concept makes a major splash. Counter Culture, from renowned local chef Jeannie Pierola who also runs Edison Food + Drink Lab, just recently announced its official opening.

Local diners might also recognize Pierola from Swigamajig, a no frills seafood bites concept at Sparkman Wharf.

Immaculate design and sensational food

Counter Culture is located at 2909 W Bay to Bay #100, Bayshore Plaza, in the prime Bayshore area of Tampa, Florida. The 3,700-square-foot restaurant was designed by Sandra Chancey of Chancey Design to set the stage for Chef Pierola’s food.

Stop the presses, there’s a freaking wood-fired grill here, too! The open kitchen features a 14’ wood-fired grill and stainless hood, and is lined by comfortable kitchen counter dining. Please deliver us some Neapolitan pizza.

Ample outdoor seating for guests

Counter Culture also features a mixologist bar with garage doors that open onto the Florida patio to create an indoor-outdoor bar that will also serve the full kitchen menu.

It’s beautiful and backed by an impressive history in the industry. Could this be the next great food hub in Tampa?

In case you need more sweet inspiration in Tampa, there’s a sweet spot serving pineapple buns, which are set to be a major food trend in 2020.

Jollibee, a hugely popular Filipino fast food concept, is debuting in Pinellas Park in early 2020.
