2023 was a huge year for tourism in Tampa, according to Visit Tampa Bay. It’s no surprise. Outlets such as Money and TIME listed the city of Tampa as the must-visit destination of the year. Visit Tampa Bay noted that more than 26.7 million visitors came through the area in fiscal year 2023.
“It was a packed house as Visit Tampa Bay celebrated our most successful year ever with nearly 500 of our industry partners. Together, we achieved more than $1 billion in hotel revenue for the second consecutive year,” wrote Visit Tampa Bay on Facebook.

September numbers (which complete the year) show substantial growth with the Tourist Development Tax (TDT) for the month reaching $4,381,758, a 6.2% increase over last year, according to a release from Visit Tampa Bay. In fact, Hotel Taxable Revenue for September, which reflects August 2023 reached $73,019,899, a 7.2% increase while September’s occupancy also increased 3.2% to 63.7%.

Corrada, President and CEO of Visit Tampa Bay. “Tampa Bay has proven it can set standards that others strive to follow.”
