Looks like another list is hyping up the Tampa food scene. Tampa just ranked 6th in WalletHub’s 2023 Best Foodie Cities List. Tampa topped the list for affordability and accessibility of highly rated restaurants, and 5th overall for gourmet specialty food stores.
To determine the best and cheapest local foodie scenes, WalletHub compared more than 180 of the largest U.S. cities across 28 key metrics. The data set ranges from affordability and accessibility of high-quality restaurants to food festivals per capita to craft breweries and wineries per capita.

Tampa has a high volume of well-reviewed restaurants and cafes
We can’t always attest to the overall veracity of these studies, but I’m always glad for any excuse to celebrate our local restaurant scene. See our recent story on the top restaurants in Tampa Bay according to Yelp for some more dining inspiration. We are now a city of MICHELIN Star restaurants, and we’re home to one of the best cheap eats restaurants in America (congrats, Mickey’s Subs).
Our huge variety of food trucks, food festivals, neighborhood hot spots such as Temple Terrace, Ybor City, Hyde Park Village, and Water Street Tampa, and influx of new concepts at Armature Works and Sparkman Wharf keep Tampa’s food scene feeling fresh.
Tampa also ranks 10th nationally for volume of coffee and tea shops, and 14th for number of grocery stores per capita.
