Nestled within the University of Tampa is something truly extraordinary: the world’s largest Ars Sonora, a colossal musical sculpture unlike anything you’ve ever seen. Towering at 105 feet and adorned with 63 hand-crafted bronze bells, it’s a local showstopper.

But this isn’t just a piece of art – it’s the heart of a bustling plaza where students hang out, find inspiration, and connect. It’s where music fills the air, creating a vibe about good times and tunes.

The concerts at the Ars Sonora aren’t just for UT students. The public is invited to enjoy the next concert on Wednesday, April 3, from 7:30 to 8:30pm. Josh Cessna, UT’s pianist, and Ars Sonora curator, will be tickling the ivories with some epic film scores.

Ryan Hebert, Associate Professor of Music, Chair of the Department of Music, wrote the following ahead of the sculpture’s installation on campus in 2022:

“The University of Tampa will finally have its crown jewel, a unifying symbol of strong character and deep meaning. Like all things of value, the Ars Sonora will be a teacher. The sights and sounds of the newly installed bell tower will help each person to reflect on what it means to be a better human. The music and architecture will inspire awe and spark innovation. The plaza will be a place where new friendships will be forged, new ideas will be hatched and solutions to complex problems will have their genesis.”

The University of Tampa is located at 401 W Kennedy Blvd. You can find a full parking map, and visitor map online.

Keep up with UT events on Facebook and Instagram. Make sure to visit the exquisite Henry B Plant Museum the next time you’re in the area, too.
