Art management company and collector, CASS Contemporary was hired by Strategic Property Partners (SPP), LLC, the developer of Water Street Tampa, the live-work-play neighborhood known for its comprehensive public art program, to commission renowned Studio Roosegaarde to deliver its esteemed “Waterlicht” and “DUNE” installations to Tampa. DUNE has already delighted visitors at Sparkman Wharf, and Waterlicht will officially launch this weekend.
Tampa will be the third U.S. appearance for Waterlicht. With the support of CASS Contemporary, SPP brought Daan Roosegaarde and his team of designers and engineers to Florida, with DUNE on display at Sparkman Wharf through October 29, starting at 11am Thursday – Sunday and Waterlicht projected along Water Street for a three-night event held on October 27 – 29. A one-of-a-kind installation in the heart of Tampa
Waterlicht immerses audiences in a dreamscape environment to simulate the feeling of being underwater, influenced by wind and rain using LED lighting, software, lenses and humidity. The artwork was launched to create water awareness and promote water conservation and innovation efforts.
This display will stretch 500 feet down Water Street, between Channelside Drive and Cumberland Avenue.
Immerse yourself in a wonderful tunnel of lights
DUNE is a landscape of light influenced by human behavior. The internationally awarded exhibition is composed of hundreds of interactive LED light and sound fibers that respond to the motions of passing visitors. Captivating audiences across the globe since 2007, DUNE will appear in the U.S. for the second time as an indoor exhibit in the interior of Sparkman Wharf, across from their main recreational lawn.
You can always find parking for Water Street in the garage at 1045 E Cumberland Dr, as well as in the lot next to Sparkman Wharf at 615 Channelside Drive.
