The Toronto Raptors…errr we mean the Tampa Raptors will open the 2020-21 NBA season at Amalie Arena, according to ESPN.

The Raptors leadership released the following statement: “The Raptors worked diligently with public health officials at the local, provincial and federal level to secure a plan that would permit us to play our 2020-21 season on home soil and on our home court at Scotiabank Arena. These conversations were productive, and we found strong support for the protocols we put forward. Ultimately, the current public health situation facing Canadians, combined with the urgent need to determine where we will play means that we will begin our 2020-21 season in Tampa, Florida.”

Training camp for the NBA begins one December 1 and the season begins on December 22.

There’s currently no word on whether or not fans will be allowed in attendance at Raptors games.

This follows the news that the WWE would move its ThunderDome Raw and SmackDown tapings, and future PPVs to Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg for the foreseeable future.
