The Tampa Streetcar continues to be a standout transportation option around downtown and Ybor City. Our historic streetcar system carried more than 118,000 riders in December 2022. Transit officials tweeted the following: “December was the BIGGEST ridership month in #streetcar history! The #TECOLineStreetcar carried almost 119k trips in December 2022 surpassing the previous monthly record by over 10k trips! #Tampa #Ybor”
118,575 is the official ridership number recorded by Hillsborough Area Regional Transit (HART). A host of holiday-themed activities, parades, outdoor markets, curated events at the aquarium, and a bevy of visitors looking to explore the food scenes in Tampa Heights and Ybor contributed to the historic number.

2022 was the year of one million riders for the streetcar. On September 1, 2022, Hillsborough Area Regional Transit revealed that a customer by the name of Arpan was the official one millionth rider of the year. HART noted that Arpan takes the Streetcar to medical school during the week and was actually on his way to USF Health Morsani College of Medicine when staff surprised him as the millionth ride.
Back in 2022, the streetcar ranked second nationally for overall ridership. The TECO Line Streetcar is a heritage streetcar transit line in Tampa, Florida, run by the Hillsborough Area Regional Transportation Authority, owned by the city of Tampa, and managed by Tampa Historic Streetcar, Inc.
