The night sky will be shining bright pink in Tampa tonight in remembrance of the late Dolly Parton. The City of Tampa announced that City Hall will be lit up in pink this evening, August 26, “in honor of the legendary Dolly Parton.”
Parton, who was perhaps one of the most universally loved people in the country, passed away this week after a brief battle with cancer. She was a cultural icon who transcended genres, with her music, writing and impact reaching far beyond the world of Nashville country music.

Tampa’s historic City Hall, located at 315 East John F. Kennedy Blvd., is often lit up in recognition of major holidays or cultural events. With people across the globe mourning Parton’s passing and celebrating her legacy over the last 24 hours since her death was announced, it’s a fitting tribute to see it glow pink tonight.
The City didn’t confirm any other locations in their announcement, but through Tampa’s Landmark Illumination program, there are often as many as half a dozen or more locations that get the treatment.
