A longtime Tampa star is bringing something new to the table, with Nagi by Soho Sushi opening in Downtown Tampa on November 2 at 103 E Jackson St in the former Gen X Tavern space.

In fact, you don’t even have to wait until November. Reservations are open for preview nights now through November 1, before the Japanese restaurant and bar celebrates its full grand opening on November 2.

Nagi is from the same team behind Soho Sushi, which has been a Tampa go-to for more than 20 years. Nagi is taking those decades of sushi experience to Downtown and creating something “bespoke” in the city’s culinary scene.

The big star, Managing Partner Dave Burton says, is the tableside sushi experience. The sushi chefs will bring the ingredients directly to the table and prepare the menu items live, bringing “the artistry of our sushi directly to the guest’s dining table.”

While sushi is the star, it’s far from the only draw at Nagi. Specialty cocktails, Japanese-inspired dishes, and a full Japanese sake and whiskey selection round out the experience. There is a wide range of small bites and shareable dishes, and we’re already eyeing the pho braised beef short rib bun.

Sushi bar bites complement the full sushi program, while a variety of main dishes offer options such as a confit duck leg, pork belly fried rice, and a whiskey-soaked Australian wagyu over garlic noodles.

The sushi menu offers more than 30 different rolls, including a dozen-plus house specialties.
