Kuba Cocina, one of the top reviewed restaurants in all of Tampa, will expand with new locations in St. Pete Beach and Seminole Heights — and the award-winning cuban food is worth the drive.

Chef Felicia Lacalle makes cuban classics with a “soul food” spin. The restaurant departed from its spot inside Armature works at the end of February, and just recently announced that it would take over the old Refinery space at 5910 N Florida Avenue in Seminole Heights.

“This concept will be a slight departure from Kuba as it will have more extensive offerings from top to bottom (literally!)… SO, we are mulling over new names. We have a couple ideas in mind but would LOVE your thoughts,” wrote the Kuba ownership in an announcement on Facebook.

“We couldn’t be more excited for our future… between the beach and now the Heights we have a lot on our plates (pun intended 😉) — and we can’t wait to take you along on the journey.”

Another Kuba Cocina concept is set for 7525 Blind Pass Rd. in the popular vacation hub of St. Pete Beach. Visitors at that location will be able to enjoy ample amounts of Sangria. in nifty Capri Sun-style pouches.

From its inception, Kuba has been renowned for its Cuban sandwich featuring house roasted pork, jamon dulce, Swiss cheese, pickles, special sauce all on La Segunda Cuban bread. You can also indulge in guava and cream cheese empanadas, salchipapa, tostones and more. You can see a full menu on Kuba’s website.

Keep up with the latest Kuba Cocina news by following the restaurant on Facebook and Instagram.

Opening timelines for both locations are still TBA.
