We are suckers for anything tiki. And soon we may be able to spend oodles of money on expensive craft tiki cocktails while we are downtown scootering. Hidden Star Tiki Bar is going to be a bar within a bar, hence the name, as this small tiki bar will be opening inside Anise Global Gastrobar this Friday, June 28th.

What guests can expect
On its own, Anise has saved our weekend plenty of times. It usually occurs as we leave the Glazer Children’s Museum and exclaim feverishly, “I need a drink.”
Anise has been that go-to location downtown for high-quality cocktails – try the “Old Fashion, Old Fashion” or the “Tampa Rattlesnake” – and now they will have a secret, little hideaway hut inside the bar.
Those looking to imbibe at Hidden Star will be checked in at the Anise host stand and taken back to the tiki bar through a secret entrance.

“It never fails that whenever I travel to different cities, I always seek out their best tiki bars,” Hurts told blogger, Carlos Eats. “We felt that the residents and visitors of Downtown Tampa would appreciate their very own tiny oasis in the middle of the city. Tasty tropical beverages with whimsical garnishes can make any day feel like a vacation. We are fortunate to have the space to provide an intimate setting for the creation of innovative and playful cocktails made with our highest standards.”

Seating will be very limited
This opening will offer limited seating as it is a small space and Anise has already put the good vibes out that they know how to tiki. The bar’s Lo-Fi Tiki nights had some legendary mixings like the “Painkiller” with chai tea coconut cream. So, expect plenty of folks in Hawaiian shirts looking to head back.
Hidden Star will only be open Friday and Saturday nights from 7PM to 2AM (no reservations) and located at at 777 N. Ashley Drive.
