All Elite Wrestling (AEW) will come to Tampa for the first time ever on August 2 at the Yuengling Center. The live experience will include the live Dynamite experience, in addition to Rampage tapings. This is huge news for diehard wrestling fans in the area, and a delight that Tampa’s own Roderick Strong could perform for his home town crowd. Of course our fantasy booking also includes a ripper from the likes of Toni Storm, Willow Nightingale, Orange Cassidy and The House Black, with hopeful appearances by Kenny Omega, Tampa Bay’s Chris Jericho, world champ and future star of an A24 film MJF, my childhood hero Sting, and others.
The AEW Dynamite event is set 3 weeks before the promotion’s major PPV, All In, at Wembley Stadium in London. So you can expect a lot of build up for that stacked card. AEW’s debut in Tampa will also mark a significant 200-show milestone for “AEW: Dynamite,” which launched in October 2019 and revolutionized the professional wrestling industry.

AEW and WWE put together spectacles for live crowds
WWE is also making a return to Tampa when Monday Night Raw arrives at Amalie Arena on July 24. The Raw product has been white hot since WrestleMania. Newly crowned World Heavyweight Champion Seth FREAKIN Rollins, Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley (with wrestling’s top heel Dominik Mysterio), the world tag team champs Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, and more superstars are sure to grace the stage. This blogger is hopeful that Intercontinental champion Gunther will put on another 5-star classic during the show.
The event starts at 7:30pm. Tickets are on sale now. The event is just one week before the promotions huge Summerslam premium live event, and I imagine they have a strong go home show planned to help enhance excitement for the event.
These shows can appeal to more than just adamant wrestling fans. A mixture of fireworks and pyrotechnics, larger than life characters, feats of jaw dropping athleticism, and excelsior costuming make these wrestling events feel like the action-packed offspring of Broadway and Cirque de Soleil.
