Tampa Bay Comic Con (All Weekend) 

The Tampa Bay Comic Con is all about fun! The convention features comic books (new and old), toys, artwork/commissions, anime and cosplay. The costume contest held at the convention has become a Tampa Bay Comic Con tradition, so feel free to participate or enjoy the show! As well, each convention features a roster of legendary comic book creators, celebrities and other pop-culture icons. This year Jena Malone, Carrie Fisher, Matt Ryan, Linda Hamilton, Jessica Henwick, Lea Thompson and more will be in attendance! Follow this link for a full schedule of eventsFollow this link for ticket information. 48 Hour Film Project 

Filmmakers, the 48 Hour Film Festival is an annual international event in which teams make a film in only 48 Hours from start to finish! This year Tampa/St. Petersburg will be one of 125 cities worldwide from Beijing to Lisbon. The Best Film from Tampa/St. Petersburg will be chosen and winners will then be in the running for top honors in Hollywood, CA at Filmapalooza 2015, the 48 Hour Film Project’s annual awards. The top 12 films from this world-wide event will screen at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival Short Film Corner. Prizes also include a copy of MAGIC SCREENWRITER SOFTWARE, certificates and awards. Follow this link to REGISTER. Kickoff for the event will be held at Joffrey's Cafe in Ybor from 5:30-7pm. Tampa Bay Rays Watch Party at Ferg's Live 

The Tampa Bay Rays Watch Party is a fundraiser for American Cancer Society with Ferg's friends from The CSI Companies and Coors Light! Please join the Tampa community for awesome giveaways, an incredible silent auction, live music, and of course, the company of a whole bunch of Rays fans. Party begins at 6pm, game begins at 7pm. $5 raffle tickets, $20 donation includes free appetizers, drink ticket and happy hour specials all night. Ferg's Live, 490 Channelside Drive.

Jazz Intensive Concert at Straz Center

The smooth stylings of summer jazz will be featured in this culminating performance from the students of the Patel Conservatory Summer Jazz Intensive as they present an evening of various jazz styles and improvisation. Join us as up and coming jazz musicians bring their skills to the TECO Theater stage. Begins at 7:15pm. Tickets are $15. TECO Theater at Straz Center, 1010 N. W.C. MacInnes Place. 

 

 

Pato Banton & The Now at Skipper's Smokehouse

The legendary reggae singer and toaster from Birmingham, England returns to the Skipperdome! Pato Banton began recording in 1982, appearing on “Pato and Roger a Go Talk” (from Special Beat Service) with Ranking Roger of The Beat. His solo debut was 1987’s Never Give In and he’s released a near-constant stream of crowd-pleasers since then. A bit of trivia: Banton received the nickname Pato (Jamaican Patois for “wise owl”) from his stepfather, and Banton from the disc jockey slang for a “heavyweight DJ”.Show begins at 8pm. $12 in advance, $15 at the door. Wazoo Craft Beer Fest at Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo

Drink Beer. Save Wildlife. Named “One of the country’s 10 greatest beer fests” by USA Today, WaZoo features over 275 beers, local cuisine and live music at Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo. The event goes from 7:30-10:30pm. Tickets from $60-$100. Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo, 1101 West Sligh Avenue.  

 

 

Applebutter Express at Skipper's Smokehouse 

Utterly charming ukes and vocals from this boy-girl (now man-wife) led group, now fortified with fiddle and upright bass, very popular with the jamband crowd, featuring stick-in-your-head originals and really clever reinterpretations of covers. They'll be joined by Kristopher James. Show begins at 8pm. Tickets are $10 in advance, $13 at the door. Skipper's Smokehouse, 910 Skipper Road.

Tampa Bay Comic Con After Party at The Orpheum

The best party of the weekend is happening at The Orpheum. After a day of celebrity panels, cosplay, podcasts, improv, stand up comedy and overall comic and industry goodness, keep the momentum going at The Orpheum. World's Largest Fantasy Draft Party at Raymond James Stadium 

Fantasy football leaguers, it’s time to go big or go home. Hooters is kicking off this year’s fantasy football season in style by hosting a record-setting draft party in Tampa. The first-ever event of this scale is free and groups of friends or individual fans alike are encouraged to pre-register at HootersDraftParty.com to secure a seat and participate in the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS official attempt for the title of world’s largest sports draft party. The Hooters fantasy football draft party will take place from 2-6 p.m. in the West Club at Raymond James Stadium. Season-long prizes and $5,000 cash are up for grabs for all participants, who will enjoy food, drinks, sports celebrity appearances and entertainment in addition to the 15-round draft.
