Tampa Bay Sun FC, city’s new pro women’s soccer team, kicks off its season this August

We are less than a month away from a major Champa Bay debut. The Tampa Bay Sun FC is gearing up for its home opener in the inaugural USL Super League season on Sunday, August 18th, 2024, at Riverfront Stadium in Downtown Tampa. The match will see Tampa Bay Sun FC face off against the newly formed Dallas Trinity FC, marking a historic moment for both clubs and the league.

This opening game is a crucial opportunity for Tampa Bay Sun FC to establish dominance on home soil. The team aims to showcase its tactical prowess and attacking firepower, setting a strong tone for the season. While the exact kickoff time and full season schedule are yet to be announced, anticipation is high as fans look forward to witnessing this landmark event at Riverfront Stadium. Support your new pro sports team in Tampa Bay

The USL Super League is kicking off as a Division One professional women’s soccer league with a bold vision: to become a global leader in women’s soccer both on and off the field, creating more opportunities for women in communities everywhere. The inaugural lineup includes Brooklyn FC, Carolina Ascent FC, Dallas Trinity FC, Fort Lauderdale United FC, Lexington SC, Spokane Zephyr FC, Tampa Bay Sun FC, and DC Power FC.

Tickets for the Tampa Bay Sun are available online.  The Sun will play their games at a new waterfront stadium (a temporary location) in partnership with Howard W Blake High School (1701 N Blvd). The stadium will have a capacity of 5,000 and feature FIFA-approved turf. The team will play on this field for around 3-5 years before creating a permanent stadium in the region.

Soccer fans are also amped for the arrival of the Premier League at Raymond James Stadium. West Ham United will visit Florida for the first time for a two-match Sunshine State Tour. The team will have a match against the Crystal Palace Eagles at Raymond James Stadium on Saturday, August 3 at 7pm.​
