St. Pete Wine and Food Festival
There are some events that make us cross the bridge. This is one of them! Set under elegant white tents in North Straub Park, the St. Pete Wine & Food Festival (SPWFF) will attract culinary aficionados and wine and beer enthusiasts during four incredible days and evenings. SPWFF will feature a wine pairings dinner, a craft beer festival and two grand tastings while celebrating St. Petersburg’s rich arts culture. Have Gun Will Travel Album Release Party at Crowbar
Florida’s HAVE GUN, WILL TRAVEL have a natural instinct for combining folk, pop, rock and classic country influences to create a sound all their own. “Their music has a great energy to it with infectious, sing-along choruses and refrains” remarked NPR’s Robin Hilton. American Songwriter called HGWT’s music “organic, infectious Americana Pop. Their music has a refreshing immediacy to it.” The band hosts their album release party with Hollis Brown and Garrett Klahn. Show starts at 7pm. Tickets are $12. Crowbar, 1812 North 17th Street.
Summer Fantasy at Straz Center
Next Generation Ballet will feature emerging dancers from around the Nation in a performance representing both classical and contemporary work. 200 dancers selected from a 25-city audition tour of more than 800 hopefuls will be highlighted. The first act features contemporary dances choreographed by Susan Downey, former Rockette Kelly King, and Philip Neal. Neal is the newly appointed artistic director of NGB is an acclaimed choreographer in addition to being a repetiteur for both the George Balanchine and Jerome Robbins trusts. Journey to Space Party at MOSI
On July 25, Journey to Space is taking over Florida’s largest screen and only IMAX® DOME Theatre. Join MOSI at the launch party as you enjoy learning more about space exploration, along with arts and crafts, activities and a space talk with MOSI astronomers. This event is included with MOSI admission. 11am-3pm. Admission is $22.95. IMAX Dome Theatre, 4801 East Fowler Avenue.
The Bricks and SPoT Ybor 5-Year Anniversary Block Party
This will mark the 5th year since Brian Schaefer and crew opened up The Bricks and SPoT's sister skate shop in Ybor City. Come help them celebrate with a badass Block Party, courtesy of Vans and with help from their friends at SubAp! Proceeds from the event benefit Boards for Bros. Performances by Wolf-Face, The Sh-Booms, The Tim Version, Rap Cypher and more. There will be a renegade mini ramp, an art show, free giveaways courtesy of Vans among other festivities. 14th Street will be closed at 7th Avenue to accommodate the event. Christmas In July Benefiting Make-A-Wish
Celebrate summer with holiday flair. School is out for summer & Wish Kids are all over the world! Help raise money and awareness during the most hectic wish-granting time of the year. This party will feature specialty cocktails, costume contest and live, holiday music. The goal is to raise $7,000 to cover spending money for families who are traveling. Event goes from 6-9pm. Shreya Ghshal at USF Sun Dome
At the age of 13, Shreya Ghoshal moved to Mumbai where she continued the musical training that eventually led her to become one of India’s most awarded entertainers. In 2014, Ghoshal was recognized as the “Best Female Playback Singer” at several major award ceremonies including the 17th Screen Awards, the International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) and the GiMA Awards for her song “Sunn Raha Hai”, featured in the film Aashiqui. Ghoshal was a recipient of India’s National Film Award for the second consecutive year at the age of 25, and has won the award a total of four times. Show begins at 7pm. Tickets from $52.75-$252.75.
