This is the best restaurant in Tampa, according to TripAdvisor

ResortPass

The debates over which Tampa Bay restaurant is the best are fierce and frequent. Diners take into account price, atmosphere, quality of ingredients, service and flavor when choosing their go-to spot. Thousands upon thousands of reviews have been left on TripAdvisor and overall one restaurant stood out among the rest, Wright’s Gourmet House.

The cafe deli has been serving the city of Tampa since 1963. Over 1,000 patrons have left reviews of their experiences here, with more than 800 of those reviews acting as a perfect 5 stars.

The best cake slices in Tampa Bay

So, what has Tampa residents and visitors buzzing?

For one, the alpine cake. It’s a simple vanilla cake with a generous amount of chocolate frosting coated with white chocolate flakes on top. It’s baked with love, like you’re enjoying a slice at your grandparents home. Total comfort food goals.

Another baked good that continues to pop up in reviews is the hummingbird cake. The treat is Wright’s banana layer cake, chock full of pineapple and nuts and covered with cream cheese frosting. Yum!

The legendary Beef Martini sandwich

What put Wright’s on the map originally was the Beef Martini Sandwich. Nearly 60 years later, it’s still a proverbial crowd pleaser. How’s it made? With rare roast beef, mushrooms marinated in white wine and crisp bacon slices with Wright’s own garlic and herb spread on buttercrust white bread.

“In 1976 my grandmother and my sister, Mindy, created this delicious sandwich,” writes the owner on the menu. “Widely imitated, our Beef Martini could never be duplicated!” You got that right.

Tampa’s best kept secret

One reviewer even called it Tampa’s best kept secret. Guess the secret is out now. Some diners note that you may have to deal with a bit of a wait, but we promise it’s worth it.

Wright’s is located at 1200 South Dale Mabry. Visit their website and Facebook page to see a full menu.
