Tampa is getting a head start on spring cleaning. This community loves to party, but we love to keep our city looking beautiful. Following the revelry and jubilance of Gasparilla, the Friends of the Tampa Riverwalk in partnership with Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful will host a Tampa Riverwalk Cleanup. It’s set for Saturday, February 3, from 8am-11am and begins at USF Park (233 Ashley Dr S).
Friends of the Riverwalk works in tandem with the City of Tampa in transforming the downtown landscape, opening public access to Tampa’s lovely waterfront and linking five museums, seven parks and numerous hotels, restaurants and outdoor gathering places.

This is part of Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful’s Trash Free Waters Program and serves as a call to action to create more sustainable communities by focusing volunteer efforts on activities that impact individuals in need, lead to aesthetic community improvements, and provide a positive environmental impact. Litter on roadways, in parks, rivers, and neighborhoods negatively affects the environment, and isn’t something residents or visitors want to see in their community. Participants in the cleanup will assist with litter removal and beautification of the downtown area.
In addition to seeking walkers to clean the Riverwalk, they’re also seeking available kayakers to collect litter in the Hillsborugh River. You must have your own vessel to participate. Rentals are also available through Urban Kai. Volunteers should have protective gloves, closed toe shoes, sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses for the event.
Advance registration is required, and you can do so on the offical cleanup page.
