Tampa Bay taxable hotel revenue surpassed $1 billion in 2024

It seems like everyone wants to vacation in Tampa Bay. With just one month left in Fiscal Year 2024, Tampa Bay’s taxable hotel revenue has surpassed $1 billion for the second consecutive year, reaching $1,013,801,704 by the end of July. This milestone highlights the steady growth and economic success of Hillsborough County’s tourism and hospitality industry.

Tourist Development Tax (TDT) collections for July also surged to near-record levels, totaling $4,701,307—the second-highest amount ever recorded for the month. This brings the total TDT collections for the fiscal year to $60,820,246. Additionally, hotel occupancy in July reached 68.1%, with an average daily rate (ADR) of $144.86 and revenue per available room (RevPAR) at $98.60.

July’s hotel taxable revenue reached $78,417,979, reflecting the region’s continued appeal and the strength of its tourism sector. As the urban heart of Florida’s Gulf Coast, Tampa Bay plays a vital role in driving Hillsborough County’s economy. This ongoing growth is fueled by millions of visitors drawn to the area each year to experience its vibrant adventures, authentic culture, and award-winning cuisine.
