Tampaeno Fish and Meat Market is the city’s best new lunch spot
Visitors should immdiately try the signature Tampeno Sandwich. Taking inspiration from the classic Tampa Cuban Sandwich, this original creation from Tampeños Fish and Meat Market features tangy pickles, crispy pork belly, salty ham, hard salami, manchego cheese, and a generous serving of aioli. “Together, they offer a delightful new take on the iconic sandwich served with fries,” according to the owners.
Another unique offering: Albondigas. They are literally Spanish-style meatballs that are made with a beef and pork blend ground meat. Tampeno lightly fries and then simmers them in a rich creamy smooth tomato-based sofrito (tomato, garlic, onions and peppers) sauce.
A menu with heavy Spanish influences
The menu features ample breakfast and lunch offerings, but none seem more tantalizing than the market’s pinwheel. It’s a “Rollo De Churrasco” or Skirt Steak Pinwheel stuffed with Spanish Chorizo and Gruyere cheese, served with their signature sofrito yuca mash, chimichurri and mojo aoili.
