Local fave Rollin’ Oats unveils new tropical smoothies and boutique gift shop

For those who live in Tampa and St. Pete, Rollin‘ Oats is one of the best “if you know, you know” local favorites in the area. The natural food grocery store and cafe has become a mainstay for those on the hunt for fresh, healthy, organic, and flavorful food, beloved since its opening in 1994. Located at 1021 North MacDill Ave, they’re a must-visit for us every week.

The fact that the health food store has reached three decades – and is going stronger than ever – speaks not only to the quality of their products but the high level of service their friendly and knowledgeable staff provides every day. No matter what you’re diet – from vegan or gluten-free to keto or “give me all the carbs you can find” – Rollin’ Oats delivers the goods every time.

In celebration of their 30th anniversary, the grocery store has been unveiling specialty products and big-time giveaways all year long. In recent years, their “Boujee Smoothies” have become an underground sensation, and just in time for warm weather, they’ve unveiled their “Tropical Trio” of Boujee Smoothies as part of the anniversary fun.

Billed as “decadent, daiquiri-inspired smoothies,” the Tropical Trio evokes all the refreshing and fruity flavors of summer, while still delivering a good-for-you nutritional experience. The three new flavors are Pink Hibiscus, Cocoa Coconut, and Strawberry Dream. All three of the Boujee Smoothies swirl together complementary flavors, creating sweet treats we already know you’ll have trouble keeping your hands off of. In fact, we just got out first taste this week when the new menu dropped, and we can confirm: five out of five stars. Would drink again.

Meanwhile, Rollin’ Oats is launching a new in-store giveaway every month. In March, for example, the prize was a Ninja Creami Ice Cream Maker. For May, they are giving away a Hisense 50-inch Class R6 Series 4K UHD Smart Roku TV at both store locations. And be sure to go back for more: July’s grand prize is a Peloton!

Boutique pop-up is here to stay at Rollin’ Oats

A gift shop

Earlier this year, Rollin’ Oats launched an Upstairs Boutique pop-up shop inside the Tampa store. The pop-up was based on their permanent gift store and boutique located on the second floor above their St. Pete location, and in the short time it has been open in Tampa it has become a star. Rollin’ Oats recently announced that Upstairs Boutique is now a permanent part of the shopping experience in Tampa, making it truly a one-stop shop.

The chic boutique offers one of Tampa’s best lineups of goods and goodies alike, the perfect spot for a unique selection of home goods, gifts, and more. Offering an “elevated shopping experience,” the Upstairs Boutique is operated by the same management as the store.

The shop showcases unique offerings ranging from candles, jewelry, and handbags to household goods, self-care products, baby clothing, and pet items. The walls and shelves are packed with products from popular brands like Voluspa, Rifle Paper Co., and Bella Tunno, among others. Be sure to stop in the next time you’re getting groceries or a smoothie at Rollin’ Oats.

Rollin’ Oats is a local star

Those who know Rollin’ Oats know what to expect, but for those who may be new, the grocer is the go-to for great organic produce, natural foods, healthy snacks, and freshly prepared meals.

Bert Swain and Larry Schwartz founded Rollin’ Oats Market & Café in St. Pete in July of 1994. Bert had a background in specialty and natural foods and co-owned a coffee and herbs store in the French Quarter. Larry had worked in food service and previously owned an uptown neighborhood bar.

The two met at a poker game when they resided in New Orleans, became friends, and ultimately they both ended up in St. Petersburg. In 1985, they opened Richard’s Whole Foods in the Tyrone area, one of their first stores. The St. Petersburg location of Rollin’ Oats Market & Café opened in 1994, followed by the Tampa location in 2008.

Now you can visit them daily in Tampa and St. Pete. Find them in Tampa every day at 1021 North MacDill Ave, and in St. Pete seven days a week at 2842 Dr. Martin Luther King St. N. Learn more about Rollin’ Oats and see the cafe menu at rollinoats.com.
