Publix plans to launch GreenWise Market in Tampa Bay area

The Florida staple Publix is evolving. The spot serving some of the best damn fried chicken in the state is pivoting to a health conscious market. Welcome to Greenwise Grocery Stores.

OK, it’s not technically opening a new one in Tampa, but it is opening in the Tampa Bay area. Odessa, to be specific.

Expanding on Greenwise meals to-go

Publix customers might already be familiar with the Greenwise brand — entire aisles are dedicated to their products at most grocery stores. So, is it basically Publix for Millennials and Gen Z? Nah, this store is for everyone, and reflection of what Publix customers crave.

The markets will stand apart from your typical Publix store with a full beverage bar with kombucha,
locally-roasted coffee, wine, local beer and smoothies, according to a release from the grocery giant.

A hefty bulk products department is also promised. Time for doomsday supplies of cinnamon roasted almonds and pitted dates! The store also features a heightened emphasis on wellness products, which range from curated beauty items to vitamins and lotions.

Massive bulk selection include 150+ bins

OH, most importantly, the market offers acai bowls to go in addition to expanded seating for those looking to enjoy a quick meal at the store.

An official opening date and location have not been revealed yet for Odessa. We’re hoping if this concept is successful elsewhere, we could see more pop up in the new bustling neighborhoods around Tampa. In the meantime. Odessa is just a ~30 minute drive away.

There is a dual-branded Publix GreenWise Super Market in Hyde Park at 2401 West Azeele Street, but no standalone GreenWise Markets in the city just yet. You can see a full list of upcoming locations on the GreenWise Market website.

That’s not the only Tampa news. The company is apparently planning to open a store at an old Winn Dixie in South Tampa, according to a report by the Tampa Bay Business Journal.
