New taco shop brings tons of tequila, and 4-pound burrito to Tampa

It’s 5 o’guac somewhere, and that somewhere is Tampa. Our city is replete with solid taco options, but there’s always room for one more, especially when they’re bringing a list of 10 fresh tacos and a litany of tequila options to the South Tampa area. Oh, and at 5pm, all bar patrons receive a free shot — welcome to GUAC. Cheers.

GUAC will be located at 4110 Henderson Blvd Suite B, in the space formerly occupied by O’Cocina. The 4,000 SF space is decorated with vibrant murals and artwork by local artist Kaylin Hovance. We’re especially transfixed by the luchador mask paintings.

Tight ten taco menu

Disser Hospitality, the team behind Tampa Bay staples Soho Saloon and Bel Mar Tavern, say they’re not trying to re-invent the wheel when it comes to their menu. Diners can choose from steak, chicken, buffalo chicken, fried fish and mixed veggie tacos.

Their mammoth burritos are topped out by a 4-pound behemoth that could win you a free t-shirt should you finish it.

Personally we’re in the business of crunchy taquitos, and can’t wait to bite into a few drenched in guac and cheese.

Elote style corn is on the menu

All menu items at the Mexican comfort food restaurant will be under $20, with the exception of the special shareables such as the Borracho Nachos.

Another signature at GUAC will be the elote style corn. This sensational side is Mexican street corn roasted over an open grill and coated with salt, chile powder, butter, cotija, lime juice, and mayonnaise or crema fresca, according to The Noshery.
