PHOTOS Anime and manga-themed boba tea shop announces grand opening in Tampa

There’s no shortage of boba tea shops in the city of Tampa, and greater Tampa area. The newest one to arrive in the area, Manga Tea, will be an anime-themed boba tea bar that also serves up a ton of mochi ice cream. Manga Tea officially opens on April 29 at 5330 Ehrlich Road Suite 133.

Manga Tea owner Matt Pengatakoon made the announcement on Facebook: “Happy to announce I’ll be opening up Florida’s first anime themed boba tea shop @mangatea_tampa right here in Carrollwood. We’ll be opening up right after the new year! Excited to share my concept and bring together the anime community. Please go follow the page and share!”

Manga Tea will transport you to the streets of Tokyo

Follow Manga Tea on Instagram for updates. The term manga is used in Japan to refer to both comics and cartooning. Some of the most popular Manga titles include One Punch Man, Berserk, Naruto, Death Note, and Bleach. The local of classic anime such as Akira and My Neighbor Totoro are longstanding, and continue to influence art and cinema today.

Pengatakoon notes that Manga Tea is also committed to sustainability. “One of the ways we’re working towards sustainability is by using eco-friendly packaging…We use biodegradable cups, lids, and straws that are made from plants, which means they’re not only better for the environment, but they’re also safe for consumption.”

“Our menu features a wide variety of boba tea flavors, from classic options like milk tea and strawberry to more unique choices like matcha and taro,” writes Pengatakoon. “We also offer a rotating selection of seasonal flavors, so there’s always something new to try.”

Manga Tea has created a cozy and inviting atmosphere that is set to transport visitors to the streets of Tokyo. From the colorful anime posters on the walls to the traditional Japanese lanterns hanging from the ceiling, the team at Manga put a lot of care into creating an authentic and immersive atmosphere.
