ICON Takes Flight in Tampa

Tampa continues to grow as a hub for innovative forms of transportation. In October, HART announced the addition of autonomous vehicle circulators in the downtown area. The Tampa Downtown Partnership recently launched their free electric shuttles throughout the downtown area as well. On November 4, the Cross-Bay Ferry launches, connecting St. Pete, at the Vinoy Yacht Basin, and Tampa, at the convention center.

Now you can add ICON to the list. The aviation company opened their East Coast Flight Training Center for its A5 plane at Peter O Knight Airport on Davis Islands. The sleek amphibious aircraft can take off at speeds up to 109 miles per hour and travel roughly 400 nautical miles.

The new planes are meant to reinvigorate the romance of flying, beyond just for commercial purposes. Classes and programs are available for all experience levels. Visit their website to learn more about the school and to register for classes.
