Florida Governor Ron DeSantis just made a major announcement for Florida businesses. Beginning Monday, May 11, barber shops and nail salons can reopen to customers.
This continues the slow reopening of Florida. Phase 1 saw restaurants and retailers open their doors at limited capacity with social distancing rules strictly enforced.

Orlando barber helps DeSantis make announcement
J Henry, owner of J Henry’s Barber Shop in downtown Orlando, helped DeSantis make the announcement in Tweet posted on May 8.
The barber shop and salon reopenings come with enhanced safety measures. This includes encouraging barbers/hairdressers/stylists to wear masks and gloves, completely cleaning and sanitizing their spaces after each customer, and operating by reservations rather than walkups.
More than 39,000 COVID-19 cases reported in Florida
As of Friday, May 8, 39,199 residents and non-residents have tested positive for COVID-19 in Florida. 1,669 COVID-19-related deaths have been reported in the state according to the Florida Department of Health.
