Perhaps the world’s most widely celebrated holiday performance is coming to Tampa this December. The Straz Center for the Performing Arts announced that it will be showing Next Generation Ballet’s Nutcracker this holiday season, with performances taking place December 20-23.

Tickets are on sale now, and with six performances over the holiday weekend, we recommend securing yours fast, as these shows are certain to sell out. The beloved classic and dream-like experience will feature award-winning dancers performing to some of the most iconic music in all of theatre.

Whether you are new to the story or a lifelong fan, Next Generation Ballet’s Nutcracker takes audiences into a fantastical world of dazzling dancing sweets, sword-fighting rodents and timeless ballet music. Featuring award-winning young dancers from NGB alongside guest star dancers from American Ballet Theatre – Chloe Misseldine and NGB alum Jarod Curley – this family-favorite ballet should not be missed.

From the moment the lights dim, audiences will be transported to a magical place filled with toy soldiers, a growing Christmas tree, giant mice and crystalline waltzing snowflakes. Wrote The Tampa Bay Times, NGB’s Nutcracker features “marvelous” costumes “with inventive, whimsical touches.” The Sarasota Herald-Tribune touted NGB’s iteration of the famous ballet, saying “this Nutcracker is a standout among many.”

Sponsored by Chick-fil-A and SouthState, Nutcracker is truly the can’t-miss show of this holiday season. With running dates from December 20-23, performances take place at 7 pm on Friday, 2 pm and 7 pm on Saturday and Sunday, and 2 pm on Monday.
