Tampa International Airport is giving travelers a sneak peek into the future with stunning new artist renderings of Airside D, the first new Airside in almost 20 years!
These vibrant renderings reveal the exciting design of the 16-gate Airside, set to handle both international and domestic flights. Thanks to the creative minds at Hensel Phelps, HNTB, and Gensler, the images showcase the Airside’s sleek interior and exterior.

The exterior shots highlight the Airside’s prime location northwest of TPA’s Main Terminal, bathed in natural light with breathtaking views of the bay. Inside, travelers will be wowed by soaring ceilings, bright spaces, and an International Arrivals corridor that elegantly wraps around the building.
These designs are still in the early stages, so expect some changes as the project progresses, not airport officials in a press release.
The billion-dollar addition to Tampa International Airport
With an estimated cost of $1.5 billion and a grand opening slated for 2028, Airside D will be a game-changer for TPA, which currently serves about 25 million passengers annually. By 2037, this new addition will help the airport accommodate up to 35 million passengers.
Here’s what Airside D has in store:
- Two levels plus a mezzanine with two airline lounges offering panoramic views of the airfield and bay
- A first-floor International Passenger Arrival Processing Area
- A central hub with shopping and dining options providing 360-degree views of the gates
