In an exciting collaboration, the Tampa Housing Authority and Related Urban Development Group (Related Urban), the affordable and workforce housing division of Related Group, marked a significant milestone with the groundbreaking ceremony for Canopy at West River Tower 3 and Tower 4. This event heralds the commencement of the second phase of the Canopy at West River housing community. The two new structures will collectively offer 188 units, ensuring 100% affordable housing options for the residents of West Tampa. It’s a promising step forward in the quest to foster inclusive and accessible housing solutions within the community.
Situated at 1103 W. Main Street, Tower 3 rises five stories, offering 158 units comprising 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom apartment homes. Meanwhile, Tower 4, a three-story structure located at 1102 W. Chestnut Street, presents 30 residences tailored for larger families, featuring 3- and 4-bedroom layouts. Both towers will accommodate Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD), Project Based Voucher (PBV), and Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) units, ranging from 20% to 80% of the area median income.

Canopy at West River Phase Two marks the 10th phase of the comprehensive West River development, a transformative journey toward creating a multi-generational, mixed-income community. Embedded within the larger developmental framework of “InVision Tampa,” West River aims to foster robust social, economic, and cultural networks within the West Tampa neighborhood. Originally home to the city’s inaugural public housing project, North Boulevard Homes, the 150-acre site embarks on Phase Two with an anticipated completion date in November 2025.
