Trophy Fish, a chic seafood spot, opening in Seminole Heights

Trophy Fish will take over the old Bodega space in Seminole Heights. The restaurant and cocktail bar is renowned for its oysters, grouper sandwich, and inventive array of tropical cocktails. This is unlike any seafood spot you’ve ever visited.

This is a major win for seafood lovers in the city of Tampa. The meteoric success of its Grand Central District location in St. Petersburg has inspired the Trophy Fish team to grow. You can soon find it at 5901 N Florida Avenue.

Trophy Fish launched in St. Pete in 5 years ago

Founded in 2017 by Ryan Griffin and partners Blake Thompson and Bill Griffin, Trophy Fish was created  out of love for local, fresh seafood and to support the local fishing industry. Their mission was to simply  provide guests with the freshest fish possible while enjoying a refreshing cocktail or beverage. Trophy  offers an indoor-outdoor, casual, nautical atmosphere with a “bait shop chic” design.

The Seminole  Heights’ location has plans to bring the same relaxed, beach-escape inspired ambiance to the 2,000 square foot space which shares the building with its sister craft cocktail concept, Mandarin Heights, just next  door.

Tampa Bay native and co-founder Ryan Griffin explains, “we were originally drawn to the Seminole Heights  area because of the unique and amazing community that exists here. Seminole Heights is a one-of-a-kind  neighborhood with a vibrant entrepreneurial culture that is present everywhere you go. We believe that  Trophy Fish will add another unique dining experience to the already thriving Seminole Heights’ culinary  scene.”

Visitors to Seminole Heights’ new seafood spot will be able to enjoy fresh fish from the Gulf of Mexico that  changes daily based on what is locally caught. Executive chef, Jon Robben, of Seed & Feed Hospitality, will  captain the restaurant bringing his highly curated menu of fish (and some non-seafood) creations.

“We  give our guests a creative and delicious education in Gulf seafood with the best locally sourced ingredients  available,” states Robben. Morgan Zuch, Director of Spirits, also with Seed & Feed Hospitality, will be at  the helm of the cocktail program and continuing to deliver elevated craft cocktails that intrigue all senses.
