Tampa Theatre to screen Star Wars in the Curtis Hixon Park this September

Tampa Theatre is bringing back parkCinema this September. The outdoor movie screening under the stars is always a celebrated time here in the city of Tampa. On September 18, Tampa Theatre will screen the iconic “Star Wars: A New Hope.” The film begins at 8pm.

Those interested in attending can reserve their free ticket online.

This free, all-ages, outdoor screening will take place at Curtis Hixon Park, 600 N. Ashley Drive, in Tampa. Picnic baskets, blankets and lawn chairs are encouraged, as is responsible social distancing during the film.

Enjoy movies in the park with Tampa Theatre

For those who haven’t seen the film before, here is a synopsis from the film-loving folks at Tampa Theatre:

“Nineteen years after the formation of the Empire, Luke Skywalker is thrust into the struggle of the Rebel Alliance when he meets Obi-Wan Kenobi, who has lived for years in seclusion on the desert planet of Tatooine. Obi-Wan begins Luke’s Jedi training as Luke joins him on a daring mission to rescue the beautiful Rebel leader Princess Leia from the clutches of the evil Empire. And after Obi-Wan sacrifices himself in a lightsaber duel with his former apprentice, Darth Vader, Luke proves that the Force is with him by destroying the Empire’s dreaded Death Star.”

Celebrate the Tampa Bay Lightning with new film

The Tampa Theatre will also screen “Tampa Bay Lightning: 2021 Stanley Cup Champions” on Saturday, September 18.

NHL Studios and Tampa Bay Lightning Present Tampa Bay Lightning: 2021 Stanley Cup Champions Film Premiere. Join Tampa Theatre for an all-access pass to the Tampa Bay Lightning’s incredible journey through the 2020-21 NHL season.

Following the exclusive premiere, guests are invited to participate in a panel discussion with special guests from the NHL and Bolts, including Lightning defenseman, Victor Hedman.

Tampa Theatre is located at 711 North Franklin Street.
