For the first time ever, Tampa will join more than 2,000 cities in 46 counties in celebrating World Car Free Day. It will take place in three neighborhoods across this city on Saturday, September 23 from 9:30am-2pm. The fun will include street hockey with the Lightning, multiple farmers markets, food truck gatherings, public art installations, and more.

Here’s the official announcement from Walk Bike Tampa Bay: “In 2023, Walk Bike Tampa in partnership with the City of Tampa, Tampa Downtown Partnership, Westshore Alliance, Pedal Power Promoters and Sidewalk Stompers will be hosting our inaugural World Car Free Day. We are committed to car free spaces that grow inclusivity and diversity, making our communities healthier and more vibrant. Our mission is to nurture and grow car-free spaces and culture in collaboration with local communities.”
