The city of Tampa is urging residents to prepare for the potential impact of Tropical Storm Idalia. With preparation in mind, officials have announced sandbag locations will be open to the general public.

Tampa’s Emergency Management teams continue to monitor potential severe weather, which may impact the region within the next few days. As a precaution, the City of Tampa is activating three sandbag distribution sites:

“We cannot stress enough how important it is to be prepared for a major storm,” said Chief Barbara Tripp with Tampa Fire Rescue. “We are urging all Tampa residents to review your evacuation zone and prepare a disaster kit for an evacuation or for a prolonged power outage. Additionally, make a plan to check on your elderly neighbors and family members to make sure they are prepared.”
