Tampa Battles has quickly become our favorite way to get a tour of all the best spots in town, and their newest competition has us buzzing with energy already. The Tampa Coffee Shop Battle is taking center stage this March, giving participants the chance to get a free drink at 14+ of Tampa’s best cafes and coffee shops.
All participants in the Coffee Shop Battle will receive a $5 credit to each coffee shop in the competition, redeemable for any cup of coffee, latte, or specialty drink. With so many drinks to choose from at some of our local favorites, it’s the perfect way to try something fun, and also makes it convenient when you need the energy boost on any weekday or weekend.
Plus, with 14+ cafes participating, you’re getting *at least* $70 worth of coffee for 20 bucks. You can’t beat that deal.
And of course, the best part is having an excuse to try somewhere new (you may even find a spot you’ve never heard of), or to get back to a place you loved and have been meaning to try again. Tampa Battles is the ultimate Tampa tour guide
We’ve said this before, but one of the biggest issues we run into here at That’s So Tampa – and we mean this very seriously – is finding the time and especially the budget to try all the great dining and drinking spots in town. From dive bars and hidden gem taquerias to glitzy new restos and hip cafes, the Tampa area has so many places to try that our must-visit list will never be complete.
That’s what made us so excited about Tampa Battles, which kicked off in the fall and has earned rave reviews after its first battles had massive success. Over 1,000 people have joined in so far and worked their way around town, trying out places that had long been on their lists.
The competition-based program gives locals the opportunity to try lots of new spots in specific categories for these monthlong “Battles”, all through one website. For March’s competition, all who sign up will get a $5 credit at each of the participating coffee shops, redeemable anytime from March 1-31 simply by showing the barista your Tampa Battles web app. After each visit, you submit a private vote in the app and the coffee shop with the highest average rating from real-life visits is crowned the champion.
You can grab a pass for the Coffee Shop Battle for only $20 to participate for the entire month. And unlike other programs, Burg Battles isn’t an automatically renewing membership. Not a big coffee drinker? All good, you may want to wait for the tacos or cocktail battle. A few weeks prior, we’ll announce each month’s category, and anyone interested in trying, for instance, the best wings throughout the Tampa area, can sign up.
