Sweetgreen founders Nicolas Jammet and Jonathan Neman first met at Georgetown University in 2003. The pair bonded over their frustration at the lack of healthy food on campus. During their senior year, along with a third friend, Nathaniel Ru, they opened a 500 square-foot restaurant serving fresh salads made with organic produce. This small seed planted out of frustration has grown into one of the most popular lunch options in the states. In the summer of 2007 they opened the very first Sweetgreen restaurant.
