Supernatural Food & Wine, a not‑so‑hidden gem in Downtown Tampa, is gearing up to celebrate another milestone at its 305 E. Polk Street location. Known for its fresh, high‑quality ingredients and devoted following, the small but mighty eatery has firmly established itself as a go‑to spot for breakfast and lunch.
Tucked around the corner from the iconic Hub Bar and Tampa Theatre, Supernatural Food & Wine has gained widespread acclaim for its simple yet expertly crafted menu. Food Network and Travel Channel star Alton Brown even praised its breakfast sandwich as one of the best he’s ever had. The restaurant is also listed in the Florida MICHELIN Guide, cementing its reputation as a must‑visit destination.

Creating the best breakfast sandwich in Tampa
When founder Wesley Roderick set out to open Supernatural Food & Wine, his goal was straightforward: create the best breakfast sandwich in town.
“At the time we opened, we didn’t feel there was anywhere locally to get a really good breakfast sandwich, so we really just wanted to fill that void and make something we wanted,” Roderick explained. “From there, we just focused on the individual ingredients and finding the best quality, which is what we think makes it special.”
Supernatural’s signature breakfast sandwich features thick‑cut bacon, extra‑sharp cheddar cheese, a soft‑cooked egg, and a tangy sauce that balances the richness. Every ingredient is carefully selected to ensure bold flavors and perfect textures. The commitment to quality extends to its curated selection of natural wines, in collaboration with local distributor NADA Wines.

The city’s most popular donut
While Supernatural Food & Wine is known for its sandwiches, its fresh cinnamon sugar sourDonuts have become a cult favorite. What started as a pop‑up at Meacham Urban Farm quickly evolved into one of the eatery’s best‑selling items.
“We were selling them out every weekend before we even opened the restaurant,” Roderick said. “We sell roughly 1,000 to 1,250 per week now.”
Pre‑orders are highly recommended through Supernatural’s website to keep up with demand for these New England‑style treats, which have earned a reputation as a breakfast staple for locals and visitors alike.

Surging popularity and exciting future
Despite its success, Supernatural Food & Wine faces challenges due to its limited space.
“The biggest challenge we’re currently facing would have to be with the size of the operation and meeting demand,” Roderick said. “We could probably do twice as much in sales if we had another 500 square feet.”
This anniversary marks four years of growth, and Roderick sees it as an opportunity to refine and evolve the business.
“This year is about improving our operations and working on consistency,” he said. “Along with that comes new ideas, partnerships, collaborations—we’re definitely excited for the future.”

A culinary love letter to Tampa
I just have to say—I absolutely love this place. It takes real effort not to show up every day. The entire team is incredible, and the food? Unreal. The chickpea sandwich “Dave’s way” is an all‑time favorite.
As someone who loves to walk and bike, there’s no better Saturday vibe than making it to Supernatural in time for a donut, a matcha, and a sammie. Grabbing my haul and heading to Curtis Hixon for an impromptu picnic? That’s my peak happiness.
Spots like this are what make Tampa special. They shape its identity. And the crew at Supernatural doesn’t just serve great food—they go above and beyond to support the community. We’ll be here to support them right back, for the next four years and beyond.
Stay tuned to its Instagram for updates on an anniversary celebration in April.
