Sulphur Springs Sandwich Shop is known as one of the best delis in the city of Tampa, and the ultimate hole-in-the-wall to visit the next time you’re in town. Keith and Vanessa Malson opened the Sulphur Springs Sandwich Shop back in 2015. The quaint space is a major dream come true for the owners; it’s also a dream come true for area residents because this space is cold cut heaven.

“When we first decided to open a sandwich shop we thought to ourselves, hmmm what should we name the new place?” wrote the owners in a blog post. “We thought of all kinds of fancy names and then thought why not just name it after the city we love; Sulphur Springs.”
The neighborhood itself is known for the tall, castle-like Sulphur Springs Water Tower, built in 1927.
What it lacks in size it more than compensates for with massive flavor. Many customers state that Sulphur Springs Sandwich Shop makes the best Reuben in the region. The restaurant itself is listed as one of the top eateries in the city on both TripAdvisor and Yelp, and has nearly perfect 5-star reviews on Google.

The famous Florida Avenue Reuben features in house brined and corned beef, with coarsed mustard, slivered onions, tomatoes, wilted baby spinach, shaved manchego cheese, stacked high on sourdough bread.

The hearty sammie is made with genoa salami, provolone cheese, slivered red onion, banana peppers, black olives, mayo, and jalapeños on lightly pressed cuban bread.
Sulphur Springs Sandwich Shop’s foot-long Cuban sandwich is sure to satisfy even the most intense Tampa appetite.
For a summertime excursion, sink your teeth into the Hillsborough River Raft. This triple decker sandwich comes complete with ham and American cheese, turkey and Swiss cheese, a middle layer of strawberry preserves on toasted honey whole wheat bread.
Bread pudding made from scratch
There’s also a small bakery inside and, while it’s hard for me to pass up a chocolate dipped macaron, the main event at this Sandwich Shop is the Jack Daniels Bread Pudding. The bread pudding is made from scratch with golden raisins, raisins, topped with Jack Daniel’s Whisky sauce. It’s something your sweet tooth won’t find anywhere else.
