The Upside Down is calling your name – but this one might be a prank call. Stranger Sings! The Parody Musical is coming to Tampa as The Straz Center hosts the award-winning stage show at the Jaeb Theatre, running March 26 – April 21.
Fans of the hit Netflix show Stranger Things will love this more comedic journey back to Hawkins, Indiana in 1983, when times were simpler, hair was bigger and unsupervised children were getting snatched by inter-dimensional creatures. Tickets to Stranger Sings! are on sale now, demigorgon spray not included.
The winner of 7 BroadwayWorld awards, including Best New Musical, STRANGER SINGS! The Parody Musical is a hilarious “upside down” take on the globally-celebrated series, and all its campy 1980s glory. Seven of the original off-Broadway cast members, one being a Tampa native, will be reprising their roles in the Tampa show taking over the Straz Center this spring.
Show guests will join Mike, Eleven, Lucas, Dustin and the whole Hawkins gang for a night of adventure, thrills, pubescent angst, heavy synth, poor parenting, convoluted love triangles, cheap effects, dancing monsters and maybe, just maybe, justice for everyone’s favorite missing ginger. We’ll never forget you, Barb.
However, the experience at the theater isn’t limited to the show on stage. Guests will spend an entire evening immersed in the ’80s, as The Straz will be transformed into a retro wonderland. The Jaeb has been completely taken over by nostalgia, creating a uniquely immersive experience with open play ‘80s arcade games in the lobby and 360-degree seating seating for the show. There are even on-stage seats and limited VIP bean bag seats that come with a “totally 80s” themed party pack. How bodacious!
Tickets are available now, and we recommend getting yours soon, as seats to these shows will be as hot as a bus ticket out of Hawkins after the Earth was split open. One might say, you should be Running Up That Hill to secure your tickets. Learn more and see show times at strazcenter.org.
